Well if you're not looking to change the cupboards for the foreseeable future, why not try and make it look better?
Most of the cream kitchens in Australia that we've seen also come with hideous splashback tiles - think highly contrasting coloured tiles, floral (or fruity?) border tiles or plain, old boring white tiles (probably with dirty greasy grout too).
So what can you do, exactly?!
Enter: Peel and stick tiles/ stick on splashback/ self-adhesive tiles
Here are some colour suggestions that would make your cream kitchen a little more bearable:
1. Elegant black stick on tiles : black tiles with grey grout
The black takes the focus off the cream coloured cupboards and pops up like a feature tile.
2. Sapphire grey mosaic tile - hues of grey and blue mosaic tiles with white grout
Now look at the before photo of this kitchen - it will shock you!
What a shocker?! It's the same cupboard with different benchtop, stove, handles and splashback!
This goes to show you can change the entire look of a kitchen just by sticking on some stick on tiles.
Yes, just stick our sticker tiles right over your existing tiles.
3. Forest green subway - forest green tile with white grout
This is another popular option if you have cream cupboards:
As you can see, dark-coloured tiles look really good with cream cupboards.
So there's no need to stress about old dingy cream cupboards - you can make it work!

Use our tile calculator and then add more a few more packs to make sure you have enough!
3. Need a seriously REAL looking tile? Try our premium range.
We currently have fish scale & herringbone available in the premium range.
They're 2x thicker than our normal range, making it look even more real.

Our stickers stick best to smooth, flat surfaces and can be stuck directly onto existing tiles. Have more questions? Shoot us an email!
]]>Many of our customers have used our tiles to make their caravan kitchen look like home. Here are 3 reasons why you should consider Stick On Luxury's 3D peel and stick tiles:
1. It is light, much lighter than real tiles
All the function of real tiles, without the weight. Our subway tiles are only 85grams each while our smaller tiles are only 55grams each. How good does that sound? Lighter splashback = more personal belongings you can bring with you.
2. Movements in van will not affect our tiles
and we know this by asking our customers! Our tile stickers have strong adhesive and will not be affected by movements in the van while driving. You also do not have to worry about cracked grout, cracked ceramic tiles that are often results of van movement.
3. Change style easily
Lets be honest. Part of the reason why owning and renovating a van is so fun is because it is a project, something that is not as permanent as a home. For that reason, you tend to want to experiment different designs/colour- perhaps something you wouldn't have done in your forever home because of how permanent it is.
So using our tile stickers is truly the best way to experiment! How would a black splashback look? If you change your mind in the future, simply peel it off and stick another!
Featured here is our white & grey subway tiles: https://stickonluxury.com.au/collections/subway-tile-stickers/products/white-and-grey-subway-tile
Stick On Luxury is an Australian owned and operated brand selling all things peel and stick. We aspire to be your one-stop peel and stick shop for all your project needs! We currently only sell tile stickers and window film, but stay tuned for more product updates!
]]>1. For the tiles to stick well, you got to make sure your existing tile and grout are levelled (no gap in between them). If there's a gap between them, water will seep through and overtime, weaken the adhesive of the tile stickers.
2. For the reason above, our tiles would not last as long as it should be.
3. Back to point number 1, even if you're thinking of installing it on a flat surface in the shower, make sure the surface is indeed flat and smooth - if not water might seep into the gap and weaken the adhesive over time.
In short, you can put it in the shower if you want, you just can't expect it to last as long as it should be! (eg 4 years).

Sure, it can be a bit hard to envision how the tiles would look like in your space but trust me, once it's up, we've never seen an ugly "after" picture!
What's best, this solution offers a completely flexible option if you choose to put in real tiles in the future, or change up the whole look of your space.
Not to mention, this project is super affordable too, at just $142.
]]>Zoe has chosen our "white & grey" tile stickers to give her toilet a facelift.
She started off with this toilet:
Read on and scroll down to see the after photos!
Below are the step by step guide:
1. Measure space and purchase tiles
In this project, Zoe used about 42 tiles including some mistakes.
We have a tile calculator on our website but if you're still not sure, just email us your area measurements and we will estimate how many tiles you'll need. Its best to purchase a few more to allow for mistakes!
2. Prepare the wall
This is important! Make sure you clean the walls well and allow to dry before proceeding. For areas like kitchen, it's always recommended to use a degreaser to thoroughly clean the surface.
3. Plan out how you want the tiles to look like and start installing!
If installing on huge walls, it is always recommended you draw a line on the wall and use a spirit level to make sure your tiles will be straight and uniform!
Next, just peel off the backing paper and.....stick!
4. Add timber strip along walls using liquid nails.
This is such a simple addition but makes such a huge difference. Zoe used Porta Timber's timber strip from Bunnings.
If you're not sure how to use liquid nails, here's a helpful video:

Zoe also painted the bottom bit of tiles using Dulux's tile paint in white to tie the whole look together.
Sounds simple and so doable right?!

]]>
Our self-adhesive tiles are heat-resistant and safe behind a stove. In fact I have them at home behind my induction cooker! (its so amazing, there's no grout to clean and super easy to wipe down with a damp cloth)
However, with a GAS stovetop or an electric stovetop that creates fire spraks, what we're concerned of is the direct flame/ sparks.
We recommend having a clearance of at least 20cm between the tiles and stove to be safe.
Please take this seriously as the risk of fire is real if you're not careful.
As all things in life, it all comes down to your own judgement! Lots of people have used it behind their gas cooktop and have no issues with it.

]]>Why would someone use it? Why not just use real tiles?
If you're asking the above questions, you are very lucky to never have to deal with ugly tiles in your life. I'm jealous!
Over the years I have been in many rental places where it's not well maintained, outdated and yes you can imagine, flipping bright coloured/floral tiles that i just cannot......
As a seasoned renter, I understand it is hard to embrace the house as your own when you can't really make improvements to the house.
This brings me to my first point: Why would you use self-adhesive tiles?
Guys, peel and stick tiles are our saving grace. We can finally cover up the ugly kitchen splashback and put on some nice subway tiles! You have hope. To remove our stickers from ceramic tiles, simply heat it up using a hair dryer and you should be able to remove it fairly quickly without damaging the tiles!
If you own your house and are thinking of renovating in the future, peel and stick tiles might still be for you. How? When you want a bold design/colour that you need to convince your spouse of / want to make sure the design can stand the test of time.
Installing peel & stick tiles is an easy, affordable way to put your design to test. Best thing with these stickers? The flexibility. Don't like it? Change it!
When you find something you really like, then you can consider making it permanent when the time comes!
Kitchen renovation is one of the most expensive renovation you'll undertake in your home. Some people just cannot afford to revamp the whole place all at once, and that might not be a bad thing! There is a solution, there is hope.
Our stickers can go right on to painted walls, so it works perfectly as a kitchen splashback. Make it permanent only when you have the spare cash.
Ever got that sudden burst of creativity after watching The Block?
Or after seeing your favorite instagrammer post about a DIY project?
If you like fun DIY projects, want to shake things up once in a while, these stickers are perfect for you!
Why must tiles be so permanent? Wouldn't it be nice if we could change our kitchen splashback after a few years, depending on what's trendy?
]]>We've scoured the internet and come up with these 3 kitchen designs that you might regret.
Yes, it looks nice in the magazine or on instagram where fantasy lives. But lets face it, life happens and your kitchen might never look this tidy.
This is reality = your pots and pans will start collecting dust and oh my can you imagine water dripping from above after you've just washed it? What a nightmare.
Source: Pinterest
Again, another trend that looks oh so perfect in a commercial kitchen but just doesn't cut it in a home setting. Your dinnerware will start collecting dust and hey, it doesn't look like it has any place for a mismatched plate/bowl. But ugh isn't that real life? What about your son's Bluey plate? That would spoil the whole aesthetic of the open shelf.....nevermind.
Did you know that once upon a time, green tiles like that are considered 'in trend'?
Fast forward just 15 years later, we would call this old and dated.
This is why most people stick to the standard white kitchen with safe subway tiles as this has proven to stand the test of time/trend.
Well there you go, here are our 3 kitchen designs that you might regret! I know you have probably spent hours pinning the best kitchen designs on pinterest, but remember, functionality must come before beauty! Ask urself if you would still like the design 10 years down the road. If you're thinking of selling your house in the future, you might also want to avoid designs that would devalue your property price.
If your place has ugly tiles or tiles too bold a colour, try sticking our 3D Peel and stick tiles over it! It is waterproof, easy to clean, and best of all, just peel and stick it yourself!
Choose your design here: www.stickonluxury.com.au/collections/all
]]>Well I'm here to tell you that it's not that hard! Look at it this way - it is a pretty fun DIY project to take on with your favourite person!
Below is a video we did to show you how we stick it.
Most important step is to prepare your wall (clean with a degreaser if installing in the kitchen!).
Second most important step is to actually lay out the tiles to see how you want it to look like, before creating your first piece.
Comment on the video, send us a message or email if you have any questions!

]]>I understand that not everyone has the budget to include all these upgrades when they are building their homes. But it helps to know what others thought are absolutely necessary because you can't go back in time and rebuild it.
1. Hidden storage everywhere
2. Lots of powerpoint including at the kitchen bench
3. Underfloor heating
4. Good insulation
5. Big windows for natural light
6. Bigger garage
7. More kitchen space
8. Big linen storage cupboard
9. Soundproofing between floors
10. Bigger laundry room for washing machine, dryer, space to fold and iron clothes. Enough space for the ironing board to stay open and not be in the way.
There you go! You're welcome. :)
]]>The only reason I'm happy it's September is because... we're less than 3 months to CHRISTMAS!!

Now I get it, when you think of Christmas decoration, most people think about putting up christmas trees, frontyard lighting decoration, fireplace decoration yadda yadda. Today, I'm going to share with you 3 unique ways you can decorate your house that will for sure blow your friends/family's minds!
Source: Pinterest, frontgate.com
This is such a simple but great idea! It instantly brings forward the christmas mood don't you think?!
Plus, I can only imagine how beautiful the reflections will look when the chandelier is on at night!
I recently came across the instagram page of Bowtique Doors and I'm so blown away by their creations! Check them out here

and No, I don't mean just putting a reindeer on your benchtop.

When I scroll through these christmas kitchen decoration, only one particular thing stood out to me - these people all have nice kitchens to start with, especially their splashback!
It is no ugly green, or ugly pink colour that you often find in dated kitchens (can you imagine how hard is it to decorate with that?)
So our 3rd unique way of decorating for christmas is actually - using 3D Peel & Stick tiles to first get rid of your ugly splashback that would make decorating your kitchen hard.
Specifically our white & grey classic subway tile or sparkly white subway tile.
Putting these white subway tile stickers on will level the playing field and makes it so much easier to decorate your kitchen.
I hope you enjoy our 3 unique ways of decorating for Christmas!
]]>This is my own kitchen before I sticked on the tiles:
This is after:
I find sticking on existing tiles easier than sticking it on painted wall because if you make a mistake, you can simply rip it off the ceramic tile and try sticking it again. With painted walls, it might pick up minute dust (if you haven't clean it thoroughly) that will make it less sticky.
Will the grout lines show through the tiles? Absolutely not. Our self-adhesive vinyl tiles are 3D so it provides a bit of depth that will mask the grout lines.
Do note that if you have a gas cooktop, it is advisable that you place the stickers at least 20cm away from direct fire (it is fine if your gas cook top has a back panel).
Also, please clean existing tiles thoroughly and allow to fully dry before sticking!
]]>This was my sight when we first moved in. Not exactly glorious...right? I absolutely love everything about the house - except these green tiles right here.
My husband and I also decided that we would only purchase a house that is move-in ready, means no renovation required.
I thought I would get used to the green tiles but guess what - after 1 month, I realised I can't do this. I cannot stand the tiles.
I went on to research how best to freshen up a timber kitchen without paying a BOMB. I guess I should also tell you that my husband and I are not DIY savvy at all. We can hang pictures on the wall, that's about it. I know that you can paint the cabinets and tiles yourself but this is something that we simply cannot do!
Some alternatives came up:
If you google this term, a bunch of technical explanation about what resurfacing is, will resurface (oops, pun intended) haha!
It basically means to spray paint your entire kitchen. Ideally they will remove all kitchen doors, bring it back to their factory to spray paint it. Benchtop and splashback can be resurfaced too! It is a brilliant way to breathe new life into a dated kitchen. You will have hundreds of colours to choose from.
I got some quotes but didn't go through with it because it is still going to cost a fortune, about $5,000 for the entire kitchen.
Also, check out the conversation I had with the lady who came to quote:
Lady: this timber kitchen can easily cost the previous owner $60,000. Full timber is rare nowadays. Are you sure you want to go ahead with it?
Me: you're just painting it right? the timber is still timber right?
Lady: yeah, but still.
Me: ????
Ok, not very convincing that's why i didn't go ahead with it.
After a long debate with my husband, I decided that fine, I can live with the timber. BUT the tiles have to go.
I contacted a few tilers for a quote but the job is too small for most of them to want to do the job. I ultimately got a quote at around $2,000 to remove the green tiles and install new ones (additional cost for new tiles, obviously).
After some thought, I decided nah, I can't risk the tiler damaging my otherwise very functional kitchen just because I can't stand the colour of the tile (overthinker can you relate?). Scenarios of what could go wrong played repeatedly in my head. Ok, screw it, next option.
I cannot tell you how excited I was to find out that such a product exist. I'm quite a resourceful person so I'm surprised I've never heard of it!
My husband was very skeptical and said "ermmm okay you can buy 1 to try"
Safe to say, 35 pieces later, we were hooked.
My kitchen has been transformed!!
Just bare with the timber, lol. I'm sure it will come back in trend in a few years!
I will also look into changing the cabinet knobs in the future to make it less "timber". If you have any ideas on how to freshen this even further, please comment below!
Oh by the way so how much did it cost to transform this kitchen? Glad you asked! about $260!
Want to transform your kitchen for less, just like me?
Well good news is, we sell these 3D Peel & stick tiles!
